SERMON NOTES:

Ezekiel 28:12-15

This must refer to Satan.

“You were in Eden” eliminates any other possibilities.

He was beautifully adorned.

He was a musician

He was the “anointed Cherub who covers”

This denotes a place next to the throne of God, and signifies a special place of authority.

. . . until iniquity was found in him.

Isaiah 14:12-14

He is a liar, it is how he operates.

John 8:44

Even now, he appears as beautiful.

2 Corinthians 11:14

Remember, his intention is not to scare you away.

As beautiful as he may appear (sin always APPEARS enticing), he is still a serpent.

Genesis 3:1

Revelation 12:9

He deceives and makes promises he cannot fulfill.

He seeks only to devour who he can.

1 Peter 5:8

He does this by deception. These are the latter times and the spirits are deceiving, and their leader is Satan.

1 Timothy 4:1

They influence men, and work through false teachers.

This is why its so important to test the spirits. Many will claim to be of God, that’s the basis of their deception.

1 John 4:1

We test against the Word of God itself.

The Gospel is simple, we must not let Satan complicate it.

2 Corinthians 11:3

Satan always attempts to make us doubt the Word of God

Genesis 3:1

He always confronts the doubter with a denial of the Word of God.

Genesis 3:4

Satan then disparages God Himself, and makes promises he cannot keep

Genesis 3:5

If we want protection from Satan, we must submit to God and draw near to Him.

James 4:7-8

This doesn’t tell us to fight satan, but to resist him.

Even Michael didn’t go head to head with satan.

Jude 1:9

We are told to take the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts. Again, this is defensive.

Ephesians 6:16

Faith, of course is how we submit and draw near to God, and He is our shield.

Psalm 18:2

With a shield like that, what have we to fear?
