GALATIANS 3:6-9 STUDY OUTLINE:

  1. v.10: The Law is a curse
    1. God designed the law to be a tutor – Galatians 3:24
    2. If we break one part of the law, we beak the entire law – James 2:10-11; Deuteronomy 27:26

Q: Why is the law a curse?

  1. v.11: It should be readily apparent that justification is of faith
    1. The Old testament teaches justification by faith – Deuteronomy 27:26; Habakkuk 2:4
  1. v.12: Obedience to the law is the manifestation of faith
    1. Abraham’s faith and obedience is used as an example – Habakkuk 2:4; Genesis 15:6
    2. Scripture tells us to “work out our own salvation” or to put our salvation to work – Philippians 2:12
    3. Biblical faith is substance and evidence – Hebrews 11:1 – it can be proven.
    4. Our personal faith is proven by our obedience – James 2:18-20

Q: What are some ways in which you can demonstrate your faith?

  1. v.13: Christ became a curse
    1. The creation was cursed from the Garden of Eden, the end of that curse is death – Romans 5:12; Romans 6:23
    2. Jesus became a curse for us, even when we didn’t deserve it – Romans 5:8

Q: How did Jesus become a curse?

  1. v.14: The purpose of Jesus’ sacrifice was our salvation, which is by faith
    1. Through faith, the Holy Spirit is given to us as a:
      1. Promise – 2 Corinthians 1:22
      2. Comforter (helper) – John 14:16
      3. Guide – Romans 8:14
      4. Counselor – John 16:7
      5. Teacher – John 16:12-13
